This morning, while I was searching my old external hard disk, I found many photos that had been taken in Lake District. They reminded me of a good time I spent with my sister when we were in the UK ten years ago.
I don't remember much of the details, so I revised my memory by looking at the photos' descriptions on my facebook and searched some information from the internet. So, if you are familiar with Lake District and found a mistake, I would appreciate your correction.

Getting There
We travelled to Lake District by trains. We took a train at Manchester Oxford Road Station, changed to another train at Oxenholm Station and got off at Windermere Station.
From the train station, we walked 2.5 km to Bowness Pier. We took a ferry to Ambleside Pier, which was on the other side of the lake. While we were on the ferry, the scenery was already stunning: green grass on the shore, beautiful buildings and snowy mountains.

From Amble Side Pier, we walked along Lake Rd. to Tesco Supermarket to buy some food, then continued along Vicarage Rd. to Under Loughrigg Rd. The trekking start point was on the left. I don't remember the exact point, but it was on the left.

Trail and Peak
We went there in winter and the temperature was around the freezing point. So, the trail was mostly covered by ice. We didn't have any maps, we just walked along the trail. And I don't remember the exact time we spent, but I think it was 2-3 hours walking to the peak. At the peak, we could see the lake and the town. The scenery was very beautiful...so beautiful that we didn't want to leave. ![]() |

My sister and I really fall in love with Lake District. My sister went back there again a few years later. Myself, after I left the UK ten years ago, I have not yet had a chance to return. p.s. Lake District is a national park. The lake I crossed was Windermere and the mountain I climbed was in Ambleside. The entire national park is huge and there are numerous places to visit. You can check http://www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/ for more information.
p.s. 2 I don't remember how much I spent on this trip.
