Doi Kew Lom - ดอยกิ่วลม is in Huai Nam Dang National Park [อุทยานแห่งชาติห้วยน้ำดัง] and it is where the National Park Office and accommodations locate. It is on the border between two provinces: Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son.

Getting There

From Bangkok, my friends and I flew with Air Asia, then continued with an airline's van to Pai. We booked both the flight and the van at once on the airline's website. We got off at Pai and spent half a day there, then we took another van back, and got off at the entrance of the national park [map]. A ranger kindly gave us a ride to Doi Kew Lom.

Doi Kew Lom is on the road from Chiang Mai to Pai [Route 1095]. So if you want to go directly there, you can ask the airline's van driver to drop you off at the entrance. No need to go to Pai and back.

Sleeping

On Doi Kew Lom, there were five houses for visitors. We stayed in one. The house was for six persons and cost 2,400 THB, which means we paid 400 THB each. In the house, there were 3 bedrooms with 2 beds in each and 2 bathrooms with hot showers.

The House

Log beds, big windows and a few meters from the scenic viewpoint, I couldn't be happier.

Sunrise
Doi Kew Lom faces East, so it is one of the best places to view sunrise. And when combined with beautiful flowers, both were worth being memorized.

We left Doi Kew Lom in the late morning for Pai. We spent a night there and also had a really good time.
